Paua Pearl Grading

Our paua pearls are sold in the following grades

• Gem - flawless surface
• A - minor surface imperfections
• B - rough surface

Pearls are graded on a points system using the criteria of

• intensity of Colour
• degree of Lustre
• Surface imperfections

Points are allocated in the following ratio

• max 40% for colour
• max 30% for lustre
• max 30% for surface imperfections.
